Dr. Bob and Mary Taussig
God worked in Dr. Bob and Mary Taussig's hearts through a trip to Nigeria and HIS was founded in 1979 after they returned home. While overseas, they came to realize just how many internationals were untouched by American hospitality. This realization was confirmed by a survey, which found that 83 percent of internationals reported having a negative social experience while studying in the US.
Dr. Bob and Mary began reaching out to internationals and the organization they founded, now known as HIS, has grown to include over 25 local churches and K-State campus ministries. HIS has effectively served thousands of international students at KSU for over thirty years.
